Fly to the beautiful Eastfjords where you pick up your rental car and explore the charming towns and fjords around Egilsstadir before driving back to Reykjavik along the scenic South Coast.

Below is a 5 day / 4 night itinerary to give you a general idea of our Eastfjords & South Coast trip starting from Keflavik:

Day 1 - Arrival & Egilsstadir

Arrival in Iceland and connect to your domestic flight to Egilsstadir, the capital of Eastfjords. Set on the mystical Lake Lagarfljot, the town is the perfect place to explore the surrounding fjords.

Take your pick from the puffin town of Borgarfjordur Eystri, a circle tour around the lake or Seydisfjordur, Iceland's best-preserved town.

Day 2 - The enchanting Eastfjords

Follow the coastal route through the Eastfjords taking a detour to picturesque Mjoifjordur or stopping to spend time in one or more of the charming villages.

Day 3 - Vatnajokull & Skaftafell National Park

Explore the wonders of the South Coast - surreal glacier lagoons with floating icebergs, the diamond beach, Skaftafell National park and several lesser-known gems.

Day 4 - Black sand beaches & waterfalls

Continue along the south coast to visit some of Iceland's most famous sights - the Reynisfjara black sand beach and basalt columns, Dyrholaey arch and the wonderful waterfall duo of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. You’ll also catch glimpses of the infamous Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

Day 5 - Golden Circle

End your trip with the popular Golden Circle - the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, the Strokkur geyser and the Thingvellir rift valley between the tectonic plates of Europe and America - before you drive back to Reykjavik or Keflavik.

- Cut a day from the itinerary to allow for reduced time or budget

For self-drive, the car rental is as per your preference and the season; in the off-season, we only provide a 4X4.
For private tours, we offer a variety of comfortable vehicles for different group sizes with a local guide.

Self-drive:
The minimum driver age for is 20 years for smaller cars and 25 years for jeeps. Drivers must bring an international driving licence or a local driving licence written in a Roman script. Winter driving experience is strongly recommended for off-season travel.
